UPTET Eligibility Criteria 2026
Primary Level (Class 1 to 5)	Candidates must have passed Graduation from a recognized university and fulfill any one of the following: 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed / BTC) 2-Year Diploma in Special Education (recognized by RCI) 4-Year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) 2-Year Diploma in Education (Special Education) Graduation with B.Ed (must complete 6-month bridge course after selection) Intermediate (50% marks) + 4-Year B.El.Ed / BA B.Ed / BSc B.Ed Urdu Special BTC or equivalent training Note: Candidates appearing in final year of training courses are also eligible.
Upper Primary Level (Class 6 to 8)	Candidates must have Graduation with minimum 50% marks and fulfill any one of the following: B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) B.Ed in Special Education 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education 4-Year BA B.Ed / BSc B.Ed 4-Year B.El.Ed 1-Year B.Ed (Special Education) recognized by RCI Note: Final year appearing candidates of teacher training courses are eligible to apply.

About UPTET exam
UPTET is mandatory for teacher recruitment in UP schools. Selection in teaching jobs is separate from UPTET qualification. Normalization process will be applied if exam is conducted in multiple shifts. OMR-based evaluation will be done digitally. Certificate will be issued through DigiLocker. Only NCTE recognized teacher training courses are valid. RCI recognized courses are valid for Special Education. UPTET qualification does not guarantee job selection. Eligibility will be verified during teacher recruitment. Incorrect information can lead to disqualification.
